Date: October 07, 2013 at 23:07 GMT

Abstract: After 20 years of operating a pioneer tidal barrage generating station, interest in the emerging modular wave and tidal generators re through the last decade. Leadership has come from interested utilities, project and technology developers.

In the absence of a national strategy coastal provinces have carried out strategic environmental assessments, provided seed funding, a development centre and recently launched Feed in-Tariff initiatives. Having mobilised more than $60 million in public investment, a technology roadmap is now starting as part of more strategic approach to achieving 15GW of installed capacity by 2050.
