Abstract: The waters of the Canary Islands offer a huge of energy potentials which by means of different technologies under development can be transformed into electricity and help meet current energy needs. Moreover, in an environment where energy systems are increasingly globalized it is necessary to take a comprehensive look at the current situation of this energy and to decide in which way the technological and legislative development will move so as to draw up plans and prepare energy policies on a long term basis.
