OECD is conducting a global forward-looking assessment of the ocean economy to 2030, with special emphasis on the development potential of emerging ocean-based activities.
Particular attention will be devoted to the risks and uncertainties surrounding the future development of marine renewable energy, the innovations required in science and technology, investment needs, synergies with other sectors and contribution to green growth, environmental implications and the implications for planning and regulation, and the policy options most suited to boost their long-term prospects while managing the ocean in responsible, sustainable ways.
OES is collaboration with this OECD study, organising a join workshop in Paris, in May 2014, to explore the contribution that ocean energy can make to the growth of the ocean economy and its potential for employment and wealth generation.
