OES-Environmental Workshop: to release and demonstrate the new Monitoring Datasets Discoverability Matrix

As part of the Ocean Energy System’s OES-Environmental initiative on environmental effects of marine renewable energy is organizing an online workshop to release and demonstrate their new Monitoring Datasets Discoverability Matrix, an online tool that classifies datasets from already consented (or permitted) wave and tidal energy projects for six key environmental effects. The matrix was developed to aid regulators and developers in the consenting process by making datasets accessible that can be transferred to inform future marine renewable energy projects. See data transferability page for more information.

The webinar will be held twice on Tuesday, July 21st, 2020:
  • At 8:00am – 9:30am PT and
  • At 5:00pm – 6:30pm PT (UTC-7
If you would like to attend, please RSVP by July 17th to mikaela.freeman@pnnl.gov.
Log-on information will be available on Tethys page soon (here for the 8am and here for the 5pm).
If you are particularly interested in a specific environmental interaction (collision risk, underwater noise, electromagnetic fields, habitat change, or changes in flow), please you should mention it on the e-mail.

The matrix is part of OES-Environmental’s Data Transferability effort. More information can be found on Tethys.
The OES is organised under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA) but is functionally and legally autonomous. Views, findings and publications of the OES do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the IEA Secretariat or its individual member countries.
